Angela Pickney Hall's journey to becoming head coach of the Girls Basketball Program at Cross High School began in her hometown of Eutawville, where she first fell in love with the game as a standout player at Holly Hill Roberts High School. Her passion for basketball opened doors to higher education, earning her the opportunity to play college ball at Francis Marion University. After two seasons there, Hall transferred to the University of South Florida at Tampa, where she completed her collegiate career from 1988 to 1991 while earning a Bachelor's degree in History and Sociology.
With a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of competition, Hall transitioned into coaching and spent seven formative years developing young talent at Orangeburg Wilkinson High School as head coach of the junior varsity team. During this period, she also expanded her reach by working with numerous AAU programs—including South Carolina Fusion, Orangeburg Xpress, Team USC, and Low Country Premier—further honing her ability to identify and develop athletic potential across diverse competitive settings.
When Hall joined Cross High School's girls' basketball staff as an assistant coach, she brought this wealth of experience and a clear vision for the program. After two years in that supporting role, her leadership and expertise earned her promotion to head coach, a position she has now held for five seasons. Her impact has been immediate and measurable. She has been honored as a Pee Dee All-Star Games head coach, earned Region 8 1A Coach's Choice recognition, and been named Coach of the Year—accolades that reflect her commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
With more than 20 years of coaching experience, Hall has built her program on three foundational principles: hard work, accountability, and teamwork. What sets her philosophy apart is her understanding that these values extend far beyond basketball. By instilling these qualities in her players, Hall directly impacts their success in the classroom and contributes to their overall academic achievement, creating well-rounded student-athletes prepared for success in all aspects of their lives.
